Some words of St Augustine
Therefore once for all this short command is given to you:
"Love and do what you will."
If you keep silent, keep silent by love:
If you speak, speak by love;
If you correct, correct by love;
If you pardon, pardon by love;
Let love be rooted in you,
And from the root nothing but good can grow.
- St Augustine of Hippo
A Prayer of St Augustine
Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight,
And give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And all for your love’s sake.
Amen
- St Augustine of Hippo
